Business Analyst

Southern Suburbs, Cape Town
The role requires creativity, critical thinking and enthusiastic proactivity to ensure continual advances in systems and processes. There will be extensive opportunities to work across the business, at all levels, developing relationships to ensure effective delivery of a diverse range of projects.

Requirements:

 

  • Minimum 2 years of finance industry experience.
  • Prior experience of business analysis and/or software implementation experience ideally in credit or alternative asset management.
  • Familiarity with relevant analytical and automation tools (such as PowerBI, Tableau, Power Automate).

Responsibilities of the Role

Knowledge

  • Develop up-to-date experience in investment applications and apply this knowledge to the development, execution and improvement of business process by providing support and guidance to the business.
  • Consciously build subject matter expertise the in technology products used by the business.
  • Assist in researching and comparing possible business software solutions.
  • Stay current with business needs and strategies.

Interaction

  • Proactively manage business relationships and stakeholder expectations through positive communication keeping others up-to-date on project progress.
  • Utilise formal and informal communication methods as appropriate to distribute updates and findings; and facilitating project meetings and presentations.
  • Collaborate across the business; articulating ideas and viewpoints to appropriate stakeholders, peers and others; identifying and highlighting potential projects; contributing to development and testing; driving the resolution of issues.
  • Serve as a liaison between the business and engineering/IT to gather and document business requirements needed for system modifications, enhancement and implementations.
  • Understand and coordinate the needs and expectations of multiple stakeholders.

Projects

  • Participate in multiple projects by completing and updating project documentation; managing project scope; adjusting schedules when necessary; determining daily priorities; ensuring efficient and on-time delivery of project tasks and milestones; following proper escalation paths; and managing customer and supplier relationships.
  • Elicit, analyse and clearly document business and systems requirements.
  • Support the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognising and capitalising on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organisational changes and new responsibilities.
  • Assist in maintaining project schedules by following project plans and specifications, estimating time and resources, monitoring milestone completion, tracking phases of the project lifecycle, providing timely reporting of issues that impact project progress, coordinating actions and resolving conflicts.
  • Support testing of implementations to ensure data transfer, collection, quality and reporting are working appropriately to ensure user experience is appropriate.
  • Facilitate successful release handovers with documentation to the business.

Innovation

  • Critically evaluate business processes and system inefficiencies.
  • Identify improvement opportunities (proactive and reactive) and assist in developing business case documentation.
  • Assist with identifying, creating and facilitating process design changes by conducting analysis and documentation; focusing on quality improvement and data management; ensuring data is reliable and valid; developing process improvements or re-engineering and recommending elimination; integrating new systems and processes with existing ones; and partnering with internal and external customers to ensure systems provided meet the long-term business strategies.
  • Identify ways to increase adoption and business satisfaction.
 

Quality Assurance

  • Assist in setting quality assurance (QA) process objectives to ensure that the result leads to the fulfilment of all project requirements.
  • Plan testing activities according to the objectives and create a strategy based on schedule and other project specifics.
  • Conduct testing activities, whether manual or automated QA testing, during appropriate development stages to eliminate bugs and flaws.
  • Document the testing results and analyse errors to identify their root cause.
  • Work with developers, testers, and other stakeholders to troubleshoot testing failures and bugs.
  • Communicate with the technology team on QA systems, activities, and progress.
  • Help monitor performance and uncover system vulnerabilities through tools and bug tracking systems.
